The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has died in a vehicle crash in the state of California aged 55.

Zampella's death was confirmed by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The celebrated game designer lost his life when his automobile collided and caught fire on a highway in LA on Sunday morning, as reported by.

"This represents a heartbreaking loss, and we stand with Vince's family, his family, and all those touched by his creative vision," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts said.
