Recent Oil Plant Strike Demonstrates 'Absolutely No Secure Places in the Russian Deep Rear'
Ukrainian UAVs have struck Russia's oil processing plant in Ufa, located some 1,400 km from Ukraine, resulting in detonations and a fire, as reported by a source in the Ukrainian Security Service.
This represents the 3rd intelligence deep strike in the region in the recent weeks. These operations show that there are no safe places in the far hinterland of the Russia.
Zelenskyy Appeals to Trump to Broker Ceasefire in the Conflict
The Ukrainian leader appealed to the US President to facilitate a truce in the Ukrainian conflict during a call on the weekend.
"Provided that a war can be halted in a single area, then undoubtedly additional conflicts can be ended as well, covering the Russian aggression," the President remarked, commending the US President's "remarkable" Middle East truce proposal and calling for the US president to compel the Moscow into discussions.
Moscow's Strikes Take Casualties in Ukraine
Russian attacks on Ukraine killed at least 5 individuals on Saturday and disrupted electricity to sections of the southern Odesa oblast, according to local sources.
Two people lost their lives in a church in the town when it was targeted, according to local authorities.
In Russia's border region of the Belgorod region, a vehicle operator was fatally wounded by a attack from Ukraine, per municipal sources.
Energy Restoration Efforts in the Capital
Work proceeded on the weekend to restore power in the Ukrainian capital, after strikes by Moscow.
Energy had been restored to more than 800,000 citizens by Saturday and the largest utility provider said the main efforts to repair the grid was finished though some outages persisted.
Air Defence Efforts and UAV Downings
Ukraine's defense forces downed or disrupted 54 out of 78 Russian drones deployed against the country during the night, the military said on Saturday.
The Russian defense officials claimed it shot down 42 Ukrainian drones over its own soil.
Cuban Government Denies Allegations of Sending Troops to the War
Havana on the weekend rejected US claims it has sent troops to participate in the Ukraine war, while affirming officials in Havana "are without accurate information about Cuban nationals" engaged "on their own" or "in the military forces of the conflicting parties".
The government department in Havana announced twenty-six nationals had been convicted to incarceration varying between five to 14 years for mercenary activity since last September when information spread of Cuban nationals being deployed to the frontlines in Ukraine.
I Want to Live Program Reveals Data on Cuban Involvement
The program, a Ukrainian government initiative that promotes enemy combatants to lay down arms, reported in May: "Our information indicates the names and personal details of one thousand and twenty-eight Cubans who signed contracts with the Moscow's troops in recently."
The Cuban authorities said of Cubans who might be participating: "It is irrefutable that not a single one possesses the backing, commitment, or consent of the government in Havana for their actions."
Kin of Cubans who traveled to Russia in 2023 reported to international media at the time that their loved ones had been deceptively recruited through promotions on online platforms.
