Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since March of 2023.
Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle in the past months.
The player's counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on court had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved service.
The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional title, seized the initiative to push for a decider.
The opponent defended 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, he clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
