A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project aims to send support to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Of course, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

“In that context, a couple of million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”
