Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for details.
A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism left him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
